Terms of Service

1. Introduction

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the matchmaking tool operated by CAUSE systems (“CAUSE”, “we”, “us”, or “our”). By using the Service, you agree to be legally bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you must not use the Service.

The Service is provided from Switzerland and is subject to Swiss law, in particular the Swiss Code of Obligations (CO) and applicable provisions of the Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP).

You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service.

2. Definitions

• Service: The platform provided by CAUSE systems, including web applications, communication features, algorithms, tools and related content.
• User: Any person or entity using the Service.
• Content: Any information, data, text, images, files or materials that you upload, input, transmit or display within the Service.
• Account: The registered user profile that allows access to the Service.

3. Eligibility & Registration

To use the Service, you must:

• be at least 16 years old;
• provide accurate, complete and truthful information in your profile;
• keep your login information confidential and secure;
• comply with these Terms and all applicable laws.

You are responsible for all activities under your account.

4. Use of the Service

You may use the Service solely for legitimate networking, matchmaking, collaboration or project-related purposes. You agree not to:

• use the Service for unlawful, harmful or misleading activities;
• upload or share inappropriate, offensive or infringing content;
• attempt to access accounts or systems without authorisation;
• interfere with the security or proper functioning of the Service;
• reverse engineer, copy or exploit any part of the Service or underlying algorithms;
• use automated scripts or bots without written permission.

CAUSE may remove or restrict content or accounts that violate these Terms.

5. User Content

You retain ownership of the content you provide. By submitting content, you grant CAUSE a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to process, display, store and transmit that content for the purpose of operating and improving the Service.

You represent and warrant that you have the rights necessary to upload or share any content you provide, and that the content does not infringe any third-party rights.

CAUSE does not claim ownership of your data but may use aggregated, anonymised information to improve functionalities, insights and analytics.

6. Matching Algorithm & Recommendations

The Service includes automated processes that generate recommendations, compatibility scores and match suggestions (profiling). These suggestions are not guaranteed to be accurate or suitable. CAUSE is not responsible for the accuracy, outcomes, decisions or agreements arising from matches.

You can update or remove your profile information at any time or request human review if an automated outcome affects you.

7. Communications & Notifications

By creating an account, you agree that CAUSE may send you operational messages (e.g., account notifications, match alerts, support responses). You may opt-out of non-essential marketing emails at any time.

8. Third-party Services

The Service may link to or integrate with third-party tools (e.g., authentication providers, calendars, analytics services). CAUSE is not responsible for third-party terms, policies or actions. Your use of third-party services is at your own risk.

9. Fees & Payment

Unless stated otherwise, the basic version of the Service may be free of charge. Premium features, enterprise modules or integrations may require payment. If you purchase paid features, you agree to the displayed pricing, billing cycle and refund conditions.

10. Intellectual Property

The Service, including software, design, algorithms, logos and trademarks, is owned by or licensed to CAUSE. Except for the rights expressly granted in these Terms, no rights are transferred to you.

11. Availability & Changes

We strive to provide a stable, secure Service but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. CAUSE may modify, suspend or discontinue parts of the Service for maintenance, security, updates or operational needs.

12. Termination

You may delete your account at any time. CAUSE may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, misuse the Service, or if we are required to do so by law. Upon termination, your access to the Service will cease.

13. Data Protection

Our processing of personal data is governed by the CAUSE Privacy Policy. By using the Service, you acknowledge that your personal data is processed in accordance with Swiss data-protection law (FADP).

14. Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Swiss law, CAUSE is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages. Our liability for gross negligence or unlawful intent remains unaffected in accordance with Swiss law.

15. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold CAUSE harmless from claims arising from your misuse of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your infringement of third-party rights.

16. Governing Law & Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed exclusively by the laws of Switzerland. The exclusive place of jurisdiction is Luzern, Switzerland.
